The $800 million Port Phillip Bay Channel Deepening Project involved deepening sections of the shipping channels to the Port of Melbourne in order to accommodate vessels with a draught of up to 14 metres.

Essential Economics Pty Ltd were engaged by the Port of Melbourne Corporation to provide a peer review of specialist economic studies prepared for inclusion in the Environmental Effects Statement.

The findings of other specialist reports were also assessed where they provided relevant inputs to the economic analysis and these related to Aquaculture, Commercial and Recreational Fisheries, Hydrodynamics, Sediment Transport and Water Quality Modelling and Visual Impacts Assessment.

Essential Economics appeared in an Expert Witness capacity on behalf of the Port of Melbourne Corporation at the subsequent Panel.
